Test Run
The downloading and installation process of the Mac Data Recovery tool took a couple of minutes at most.
When you open into the main interface, we are presented with clear cut and simple options. It isn’t overly wordy which is fantastic if you are already stressed out of your gourd!
We check out the ‘Undelete Recovery’ option.
Our list of available devices for scan appear. We select the relevant drive and click Scan.
We are informed that the particular USB failed to open! Gasp! Is it all over? Nope! The program directs us to use the Damaged Partition Recovery instead. Phew!
Back in the main interface, we select Damaged Partition Recovery.
Looks like we can scan the hard drive in this option!
We check out the Settings configuration to make sure we are happy with it. We add Other files to the extra search for known file types section and click OK to save our settings.
All ready to scan the drive! Select Full Scan.
The scan is now taking place.
Once the full scan is complete, we are presented with the results which we can navigate into via the Path or Type tab.
This is how the recovered files look in the ‘Type’ tab.
We can get an example of an image preview in the software but we can’t preview anything larger than 20mb unfortunately.

Since we only want to check out the recovered larger files we utilise the Filter option.
The filter results appear!
Now we test saving some located files on the program. Simply tick the ones to recover and click Save.
We are advised to save the recovered files on another drive! Not a problem. Let’s clickBrowse.
We select a folder to save the recovered files to and click Choose.
If we are happy with the configuration, we select OK.
The files are then being saved onto that particular folder. The duration of the save depends on the size of the files.

We are advised that the selected files have been successfully recovered to the folder we originally chose. Click OK.
Let’s check out the folder where the files have been recovered to. Looks like there are no issues with them!
We test out one of the files and it works!
We can also export our scan result in case we need to go back to it later.
